I am a habitat restoration ecologist by trade and the fiercest of advocates for habitat conservation - whether voluntary or compulsory.  From time to time I write about the good, bad, and ugly of working as a "real" biologist, and - until I can figure out how to run a feed - you can read about my professional trials and tribulations here.

I also pride myself on volunteerism and believe in the concept of service when it comes to my local environment (which happens to be the slowly dying Chesapeake Bay). Anybody can sit on the sidelines and complain that non-profit groups and government agencies are "doing it all wrong."  I challenge you to pick up a shovel and dig.  Show them - show me - how to do it right.
